What Happens if I Win?

As we reach the 5th anniversary of the horrible occurrences of 9-11-2001, it causes me to pause. I am running for the Presidency of the United States of America. Many say I have no chance of winning. Many applaud my unorthodox approach as a refreshing change from politics as we know it today.

It begs the question, what happens if I win? If all the odds are beaten, if all the critics are silenced, what happens when I take that oath of office?

When another terrorist attack occurs - and it will - do I want to be the one in charge? When a member of the military is killed in battle that I sent him into, do I want that responsibility? Do I want to immerse myself in a hateful or at best contentious political scene? Do I want to expose myself to the media where any two second sound byte may be used against me for the rest of history?

After serious thought, all of these questions have the same answer. Yes. And the reason for the “yes” is this. A friend of mine once told me, when we together faced a struggling organization, we have a choice to make. We can run away and leave it all behind, or stay and fight to make things better.

Running away in this situation may be easier for the short term, but if things continue as they are in our country, there will be no escape for any of us. Finances, ethics, security, and our very existence hang in the balance, for us and our children.

Staying and fighting is never easy, but it is what must be done. So yes, I do want to be the one that puts our nation on the right track. I want to be the one that protects our nation and helps it to heal. I will not be alone. I will have many to help me, but as President Truman was fond of saying, “The buck stops here.”

When a soldier dies and their parents or family are presented with a flag, “on behalf of a grateful nation and the President of the United States”, I want to have that responsibility and be sure that battle justified the risk of such a terrible loss. When the politics get ugly and the media is unfriendly, I will be comforted that I have sworn and will be performing to the best of my abilities to faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Steve Adams was born and raised in Ohio, graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Computer Science degree in 1988, and subsequently moved to Lexington KY. He has worked at Lexmark International since 1989 and has been a Part Time Local Pastor at St. Luke UMC since 2004. He is married with two children. He is not politically correct, but is politically active. He is a registered Republican, married to a registered Democrat, and running for President of the United States as a write-in candidate on the independent ticket. No joke. You can read all about it on www.PresidentAdams.com or e-mail Steve directly at Steve@PresidentAdams.com.

Steve, Gene has a question for you here .

Steve,

Please be sure to take Gene to task for his juvenile ideas. I'd be more than happy to, except I've been banned from leaving comments on his blog. Why? Because I was willing to point out the idiocy of his statements and to paraphrase Jack Nicholson "Gene can't handle the truth".

The posting that I see on your comment field is from Doug Kenline, who apparently has taken the job of chief ass kisser on the Chapman campaign. It's not really his fault, he has no life and Gene looks exciting to him, so give him some slack.

Thanks Frank. Everyone can have some slack. My goal is to be elected, not engage in potentially pointless debates.

Steve,

Gene would like to know what you think of the movie America: Freedom to Fascism.

Watch Director's cut on Google Video here.

You may tell Gene that I did not feel the movie warranted two hours of my attention. This thread is becoming juvenile. If Gene wishes to speak to me, more than just to pick a fight, he may do so himself.

Steve,

Gene would like to have you on as a guest on his podcast radio show. Please let us know when would be a good time for you and if you would like to call us or have us call you. Anytime this weekend would be great. The show lasts for 60 minutes.

Doug,

Thanks for the invitation. As I indicated before, if Gene would like to talk about how we can potentially work together to make the 2008 election results better for the country, have him contact me. If you are interested in debate for the sake of debate, further fractionalizing the third party/independent vote, and continuing to bait me with inflammatory statements or challenges for the sake of generating internet noise, I am not interested.

By the way, I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. Contrary to Gene’s condescending remark about playing with the kids, I was at the hospital with my mother who we almost lost this weekend. For a presidential candidate and someone who represents him, you two should consider making your statements with a bit more maturity.

Steve,

I've just been to your website to find this blog for the first time. I'm very sorry for the way Doug has approached you. My intent has never been to attack others for simply being in the race.

I find your poll numbers to be very high relative to your stated political experience, but I respect that that it is possible.

We went to work to keep politicians accountable to the public, and that has made us mean spirited in the minds of some. I'll try to redirect this in my campaign. As long as you are not a supporter of any of the 10 planks of "The Communist Manifesto," I'm sure we will get along fine.

Doug,

We are a nation of laws. You can work to change them, but choosing to ignore them has consequences.

The republicrats and demonrats have stolen representative government and replaced it with party government.

If you look deeply at the laws passed in Congress and signed by our Commander in Chief these past several decades you will notice a continual erosion of our Liberty as America has clandestinely moved from a legal "rule by law' constitutional republic to an illegal "rule by mob" democracy.

The Judicial Branch, under the direction and design of liberals and socialists, has clandestinely conducted a very successful coup. Our Constitution has been turned on its head and instead of interpreting law based upon constitutional principles, the federal courts are creating law through precedant. It is illegal!

This descent has moved us into socialism and the eventual control of our nation, through the destruction of our sovereignty, by the UN as we become just another socialist slave state of the evil one world government. Our Supreme Court has actually cited international law recently in its decisions that should be sovereign United States decisions.

This Christian, Patriot, Veteran, taxpayer, business owner, parent is through voting for any candidate who claims a D or R after his name.

Good luck Steve Adams. It would be nice to have another Adams in the White House again. The first two were spectacular and their relation, Samuel Adams was likewise a fantastic Patriot.

Steve:

Your reaction to the movie Freedom to Fascism is a bit discouraging. Aaron Russo has hit upon a very important problem in our Republic, one which has evaded the radar for decades, basically since the creation of the fraud we know as the Fed in 1913 by President Woodrow Wilson's Administration. This is truly bad stuff that the majority of Americans do not understand.

I suggest you give the movie some more serious evaluation. This is not a conspiracy theory, it is a fact. Russo has done us a valuable service by documenting this in a manner in which the entertainment drunken sheeple who inhabit our society today can digest.

Thank you for the well wishes. I am sure that you are not alone in your discontent with the two party system of the day. And I am in fact counting on that as I run for the presidency. As I told one interviewer, the people showed their distaste for Republicans in the elections of 2006. The Democrats have two years to remind people how they can be just as bad. People just need to be educated or wake up to the fact that there is an alternative. And I will continue to press on that I am that alternative.

As for my reaction to the movie, it was actually more of a reaction to the way it was presented to me. I am not one that needs to be spoon fed a 90 minute movie when facts will do fine. I have read about many of the claims Russo makes in his documentary and again believe that it adds fuel to the fire for an independent like myself to clear up the mess.

I support the work of the people at www.fairtax.org have done and as you probably know, that includes repealing the 16th amendment. I would nominate only originalist judges who would not go by international law or legislate from the bench. I stand for a smaller, not larger federal government. There would be no room for cover-up or conspiracy in my presidency.
